SohoPhotoGallery is pleased to announce its 23rd National Competition. The gallery, located in lower Manhattan, is New York City’s longest running co-operative photography gallery. All photo-based works are eligible, with no limitation as to subject matter or technique. All selected photographs will be exhibited at the gallery from July 5th to July 21st 2018.
ABOUT THE COMPETITION
The juror, Paula Tognarelli will choose approximately 40 photographs for the exhibition. Cash prizes for first, second and third place winners will be awarded and up to four honorable mentions will be given as well. The photographers chosen, as well as the award winners, will be notified by email on or about May 15. The juror’s selections will also be posted on the Soho Photo website.
Paula Tognarelli is the Executive Director and Curator of the Griffin Museum of Photography. The Griffin Museum of Photography located in Winchester outside Boston, Massachusetts, is a nonprofit photography museum whose mission is to promote an appreciation of photographic art and a broader understanding of its visual, emotional and social impact. Ms. Tognarelli is responsible for producing over 54 exhibitions a year at the Griffin and its surrounding satellite and online gallery spaces. She holds an M.S. in Arts Administration from Boston University, BA from Regis College, is a graduate of the New England School of Photography and pursued her Masters in Education at Lesley University.
Upload jpeg digital images at spg.slideroom.com. Files must be no larger than 1220 pixels (longest dimension) at 72 dpi. The competition is open to all photographers age 18 years old or older, who are residents of the United States, excluding members of Soho Photo Gallery.
FEES 1-7 images $50 / 8-15 images $75
The awards include cash prizes from Soho Photo Gallery for 1st ($300), 2nd ($200), and 3rd place ($100). There will also be a minimum of two Honorable Mentions, and special gifts from our sponsor. The sponsor for this year’s Competition is Archival Methods, Inc..
